Arimino Spice: Which Styling Product Should You Actually Buy?

Sixteen products, and names like Shower Freeze and Cream Shining Straight that tell you nothing until someone explains the system. Here is how to read an Arimino Spice name, and which one to buy for the result you actually want.

Arimino Spice Cream Hard Wax, part of the Arimino Spice styling line at Kija Hair Salon in Irvine

Arimino Spice is the line we sell more of than anything else, and it is also the line customers ask us about most — because the names are genuinely opaque. Shower Freeze is not a shower product. Cream Shining Straight is not a straightener. Sisters is not a women's-only range.

Once you know how the names are built, the whole line becomes easy to navigate. It takes about a minute to learn.

How to read an Arimino Spice name

Almost every name is two parts: the format (what it physically is) followed by the finish (what it does to your hair).

The format tells you the texture

  • Cream — a classic solid wax you warm between your palms. The strongest, most sculptural options live here.
  • Water — a water-based wax. Lighter, washes out more easily, better on damaged hair.
  • Shower — a foam or spray, despite the name. Fast to apply, easy to distribute evenly.
  • Foam — mousse, applied to damp hair before drying.
  • Mist — a spray, used for finishing or as a prep before heat.
  • Tube — a jelly, aimed at longer hair.

The finish tells you the hold

  • Freeze — the strongest hold in the line.
  • Hard — strong, all-day hold that still reworks.
  • Soft — light, touchable, restylable.
  • Shining — not about hold at all. These smooth and add shine.
  • Wave — texture and movement, for waves and curls.
  • Volume Up / Gloss — body, or shine, respectively.

So Shower Freeze is a strong-hold foam. Cream Shining Straight is a wax-textured smoothing cream. The system is consistent once you see it.

Pick by what you want

“I want strong hold that still moves”

Spice Cream Hard Wax ($33) is the workhorse — all-day hold for sculpting and shaping, without going stiff, and it reworks through the day. If you want more hold again, Spice Sisters Freeze Wax ($21) is the strongest here while staying soft enough to reshape.

“I want texture, not a fixed style”

Spice Cream Soft Wax ($33) for short to medium hair — movement and shape that stays touchable. For a lighter, airier version, Spice Shower Wax ($28) sprays on with micro-fine beads for soft volume without stickiness.

“My hair is frizzy or coarse and I want it smooth”

Go to the Shining products. Spice Cream Shining Straight ($31) smooths frizz and softens coarse hair — the pick if hair is also dull or damaged. Spice Water Shining Straight ($29) is the lighter water-based version for straight and wavy hair, aimed at flyaways.

“I have curls or waves I want defined”

Spice Foam Super ($22) is built for thick waves and natural curls, with flexible hold that keeps them defined rather than crunchy. For a blow-dry with more volume and hold, Spice Foam Hard ($24). If your curls are dry or damaged, Spice Water Wave Style ($29) is a pre-styling wax that makes the whole process easier.

“My hair is flat”

Spice Mist Volume Up ($25) adds body and protects from heat at the same time, so it earns its place in a blow-dry routine.

“I just want shine and less frizz, no hold at all”

Spice Mist Gloss Water ($23) — hydrates, detangles and adds shine without touching your style.

“My hair is long”

Spice Tube Series Jelly ($22) is made for length — hold and shine that does not drag long hair down.

Two things worth knowing before you order

Start lighter than you think. The most common mistake with Japanese styling wax is using too much. These are concentrated — a pea-sized amount, warmed properly between your palms until it turns clear, goes further than the equivalent amount of a drugstore product.

Warm it before it touches your hair. Wax applied cold lands in clumps and shows. Rub it out thoroughly across both palms and your fingers first, then work from the back and underneath rather than starting at the front.
