How often should you get each service?

Service Typical interval Why
Short haircut Every 4 to 6 weeks Short cuts look grown out sooner, so the shape needs more frequent cleanups.
Medium haircut, same length Every 6 to 8 weeks Keeps the shape and removes split ends before they travel up.
Growing your hair out About every 12 weeks A quarter to half an inch off the ends, so you keep most of what grows.
Color-treated or heat-styled hair About every 6 to 8 weeks Processed ends are more fragile and split sooner.
Root touch-up Every 4 to 6 weeks Regrowth shows sooner when your color is far from your natural shade or you are more than half gray.
Full highlights About every 6 to 8 weeks Foils start at the root, so regrowth shows quickly.
Partial highlights Up to about 12 weeks Less of the head is lightened, so they grow out more softly.
Balayage Every 3 to 4 months It is painted away from the root, so it grows out naturally.
Keratin smoothing Up to 5 months It fades with every wash; sulfate-free care makes it last longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should you get a haircut?

Every 4 to 6 weeks for short hair, every 6 to 8 weeks for medium hair you want to keep the same length, and about every 12 weeks if you are growing it out. Long hair in good condition can go longer between trims.

Do trims make hair grow faster?

No. Hair grows from the scalp at about half an inch a month. Trims remove split ends so they do not break further up, which helps you keep length. Our hair growth calculator shows how trims affect your timeline.

How can I go longer between color appointments?

Wash with a color-safe shampoo, rinse with cooler water and protect from heat and sun. A softer technique like balayage or partial highlights also grows out more gently than full foils.

Can I book a cut and color together?

Yes. If two services fall within a couple of weeks of each other, booking them in one visit saves you a trip. The planner flags when that happens.
