Amatora is the second-biggest line we sell, and the one people ask us to explain most often. The problem is the names. Hair Bath sounds like a soak. KitomasQ and ColamasQ look almost identical on the shelf and are not the same kind of product at all.
So here is the whole line in plain terms, and how to decide which one you actually need.
What Amatora is
Amatora is a Japanese salon line built around repairing hair rather than coating it. The QUO range is aimed squarely at hair that has been colored or chemically treated, and it leans on fulvic acid, hematin and keratin with an amino acid base rather than heavy silicones.
That is why it behaves differently from most drugstore repair products. It does less on day one and more over several weeks. If you have ever used a mask that made your hair feel wonderful once and greasy by the third wash, this is the opposite approach.
The four products, decoded
QUO Hair Bath — the shampoo
$58. “Hair Bath” is simply the Japanese salon term for shampoo. It is silicone- and paraben-free, cleanses the scalp gently, and is formulated for colored hair with fulvic acid, hematin and keratin.
This is the one most people find first, and it is the right entry point to the line. Amatora QUO Hair Bath
QUO KitomasQ — the everyday conditioner
$50. The conditioner that partners the Hair Bath. Fulvic acid and hematin again, working to smooth, repair and hold color. Use it after every wash.
If you are building a routine, this is the second thing to buy. Amatora QUO KitomasQ
QUO ColamasQ — the weekly mask
$55. The collagen-rich treatment mask. Heavier than KitomasQ, aimed at restoring moisture and slowing color fade on hair that is genuinely damaged.
This is not a replacement for the conditioner — it is the once-or-twice-a-week step on top. Amatora QUO ColamasQ
OQ Leave-In Treatment Mousse — the finisher
$52. The odd one out, and the one our stylists reach for most on fine hair. A weightless leave-in foam that hydrates and protects without weighing hair down. Works as a daily treatment or as a base before styling.
If your hair is fine and every leave-in you have tried has flattened it, this is the one to try. Amatora OQ Leave-In Treatment Mousse

If you are only buying one
You color your hair and want it to last longer: start with the Hair Bath. What you wash with does more to protect color than anything else in the routine.
Your hair is dry, coarse or badly damaged: start with ColamasQ. A weekly mask on top of whatever shampoo you already use will change more than swapping shampoo alone.
Your hair is fine and goes flat: start with the OQ mousse. It is the only product in the line designed not to add weight.
You just want the routine that works: Hair Bath and KitomasQ together, with ColamasQ once a week when your hair needs it.
Two things worth knowing
Double shampoo with the Hair Bath. The instructions call for it and it matters. Massage through, rinse, then a second wash left on for two to three minutes before rinsing. The first pass lifts product and oil; the second is the one that actually does the work.
Use it after coloring, not before. The QUO range is built to be used on hair that has just been processed, to limit the damage and breakage that follow. If you have a color appointment coming up, buy it for afterwards.
A note on stock and shipping
We stock Amatora in salon quantities rather than warehouse quantities, so there are usually only a handful of each on the shelf at any time.
One practical thing: every Amatora product ships free on its own. Our free shipping starts at $40 and all four sit above it, so a single bottle qualifies. Any two together also clear $75, which adds a free gift you choose yourself.
The full range is on the Amatora collection page, and it sits alongside the other Japanese salon lines we use on clients in the Japanese Hair Care collection.
Not sure?
Our product finder narrows things down by hair type, or you can send us a message describing your hair and what it is doing, and we will reply in writing with a straight recommendation.
